What are we looking at??

When I started my photography journey, it was prompted by inspiring images that reflected life, love, and connections. I was inspired by images that evoked emotion, and images that took my breath-away as works of art.

Image this: a "perfect" photograph with everyone looking into the camera, full of smiles, full of happiness. Yes, these images are quite nice, and extremely memorable and great for framing and displaying : )

But..... What are we looking at? This question hit me hard yesterday, and I really started thinking about this. I started thinking about my photography and how I really want to photograph life, love, and connections. The connections that you see when families and couples are looking at each other, or sharing a memorable moment. When a couple looks into each others eyes with so much love and intensity; a passionate kiss; a mother and her son laughing at something that only they can understand; a mother embracing her belly with warm thoughts of her unborn child. These are special movements experienced by people that love each other.

This is beauty. This is art......

I am on a new journey to maintain traditional images that everyone loves and appreciates, but to also mostly focus on the connections, the love, and the tender moments that families and couples share. In the end, it is the love, the emotions, and the connections that matter the most in life.......

  1. I totally agree, I love the candid moments, but I find I have to shoot both, and I'm ok with that...great read;)
